Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.
Today's question is:
The best time to apply a water repellent coating to your windshield is anytime the glass is completely bone dry. The most important factor isn’t necessarily temperature, although warmer conditions do help, but dryness is absolutely critical. If there is any moisture on the glass — whether from rain, condensation, dew, or even humidity — the coating won’t bond correctly to the surface. When the glass is dry, the product can properly adhere and perform the way it’s designed to.
Ideally, you want to apply it in a controlled environment where you know the glass hasn’t been exposed to moisture. A garage is great, but it’s not always necessary if conditions outside are dry. In Western Washington, we don’t always get to pick perfect weather, so the key is making sure the windshield itself is dry before application. If it’s dry, the coating can be applied successfully and will last longer and perform better.
Patrick explains that water repellent coatings should only be applied when the windshield is completely dry. While warmer temperatures help, dryness is the most critical factor for proper bonding and performance.
