More than a windshield. Back glass carries the defroster grid, often the radio antenna and sometimes a camera or a wiper, and every one of those has to be disconnected, reconnected and tested. Sunroof and panoramic panels are bonded to a frame with tracks, drains and seals that all need to be cleaned and checked while we are in there. Chip Happens handles all of it for vehicles across Snohomish County and North King County.
A shattered roof or rear glass leaves the cabin open to the rain, so we prioritize these calls and can tarp and tape the opening until the exact glass for your vehicle arrives, usually within a day or two.

Tempered sunroof glass can fail from thermal stress, a small unseen impact from a rock or a tool, or stress from the frame, and when it goes it goes all at once with a bang. It is more common than most drivers realize, especially on late-model SUVs with big panoramic panels, and comprehensive insurance usually covers it.
We remove the shattered panel, clean the frame, tracks and drains, and bond or seat the new glass to the manufacturer's procedure. Large panoramic panels are usually done in our Monroe shop where they can be handled on a level floor.

Yes. The new back glass has the defroster grid built in, and we reconnect it along with any antenna, camera, brake light or wiper and test each one before we hand the keys back. For pickups with sliding rear windows we replace the sliding center section and the fixed side panes and check the latch and seals.
Because roof and back glass is bonded to the body, the prep matters as much as it does on a windshield: old urethane trimmed, the pinch weld primed, fresh urethane with a published cure time.

Rear windshields and most moonroofs are routine mobile jobs in a driveway or parking lot. Full panoramic roofs and jobs where the sunroof mechanism needs attention are better in the Monroe shop. Either way we inspect the sunroof drains, because a clogged drain is the most common reason a sunroof leaks, and the fix is cheap while the glass is out.
Every installation carries our lifetime workmanship warranty.
