Hey folks! This is Patrick from Chip Happens Auto Glass.

Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.

Today's question is:

"What Temporary Fixes Can I Do While I Wait For A Windshield Replacement?"

Answer from Patrick

So, some temporary fixes you can do while you're waiting for the autoglass repair in the event of like a chip or a crack is to um take like tape and cover the initial impact point so you're not getting as much moisture inside of the brake. um keeping the AC and the defroster off of the windshield until the car has time to acclimate cuz the windshield doesn't want to have an extreme one way or the other as far as temperatures and um driving easier on the vehicle minding speed bumps, potholes, etc. Um because the vehicle um body roll actually affects the windshield and puts tension on the glass.

Summary - TLDR

Patrick Sherman suggested temporary fixes for chips or cracks while waiting for professional repair, such as covering the impact point with tape to prevent moisture intrusion. They also advised keeping the AC and defroster off the windshield until the car acclimates to avoid extreme temperature changes and driving carefully over bumps to minimize tension on the glass.
